Academic Profiles of Stenden University Bali
Dr. Erna Wiles received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta after pursuing a Masters degree in Linguistics. She is currently pursuing a second Ph.D in Psychology at Universitas Gadjah Mada with her research topic focused on the academic well-being of international students.
Alongside with her admirable educational background, she has worked over 30 years in both secondary and higher education. As a result of her passion for teaching, she has taught in Indonesia at various institutions, teaching subjects such as Bahasa Indonesia and Indonesian studies, APA referencing, research, and statistics. She has also worked for UNHCR teaching Vietnamese and Cambodian refugees for two years.
She is also very keen on preserving traditions and culture, and due to that, she has mastered over 10 Javanese and 10 Balinese dances. She is the module coordinator of the Spa Business Strategy minor at Stenden University Bali and also lectures in several other modules throughout the four-year bachelor programmes offered at Stenden University Bali. Aside from Dr. Erna Wiles’ passion for teaching she also assists and supports the students during the pursuit of their bachelor’s degree, as she enjoys interacting with people from different backgrounds.
